What social platforms do — and what a label must still do
Published · GINIE PROD
Social platforms took a part of the job labels used to keep: access to the public. An artist can speak, show, sell a date, without going through a house. That is a fact. It is not the end of the story.
What platforms do poorly is the frame. They push abundance, reaction, the most profitable version of the self at time T. A music project needs the opposite: choices, refusals, continuity.
A label is not a luxury community manager. If it only forwards your stories, it is useless. If it helps you decide what leaves you and what stays, it starts justifying its existence again.
We look at platforms as ground, not as a boss. We discover there. We do not obey there. A strategy that only consists in “feeding the feed” is not a strategy. It is a chore in costume.
The right split is this: you hold your presence. We hold the project. When the two speak to each other, the platform stops being a trap. It becomes a place again.
