Identity before the first single
Published · GINIE PROD
The first single has been given too much weight. It is treated as a birth, when it should be a consequence. Before the file, there is a harder question: who are you when the set is switched off?
Identity is not a three-line bio. It is coherence. Timbre, subject, rhythm, image, the way you hold a stage — even a small one. If those elements contradict each other, the single will not reconcile them. It will expose them.
Many artists want to “put something out” in order to exist. We understand the urgency. We refuse it as a method. A release date is not proof of seriousness. A clear voice is.
Working on identity is not inventing a character. It is removing what does not belong. Influences that are too visible. Convenient lyrics. An image copied from another live at the same hour.
When identity holds, the single has ground. It can fail, please, circulate — it does not collapse at the first silence. That ground is what we look for before we talk about a calendar.
